How do I get a Debit Card Application?
Come in to the Credit Union and pick one up or call, fax, or e-mail and we will send you an application.

After I fill out the application, when will I get my card?
Once we have sent in your Debit Card Application it should take 7 to 10 business days to receive your card in the mail. Your Pin number will arrive 2 to 3 days after your Debit Card. The Debit Cards are for Checking accounts only. Our new system has real time balances. When you deposit funds into your account they are available immediately.

My card says Visa is it a credit card?
No. It is a debit card, meaning the funds come directly out of you checking account.

How does my Debit Card work?
At Automated Teller Machines (ATM’s), it works just like a regular ATM card and you must use your Pin number. At stores, restaurants and other merchants, it works like a check. Present your card, sign the receipt and your purchase is deducted from your share draft account. You can also get cash back at the time of a purchase, thereby saving yourself an ATM transaction.

If the Merchant asks, “debit or credit”, what should I say?
Always say “credit” and sign your name. You only have to use your Pin number at ATMs. If the merchant instructs you to swipe the card and select debit or credit, you’ll also want to press “credit”. In either case, always use credit. The funds will be withdrawn (debited) from your share draft account.

If it’s a debit card, why should I select credit?
By selecting “credit”, your funds are not immediately withdrawn from you share draft account and may remain on deposit for a longer period of time – possibly up to several days. This benefits both you and your credit union because we receive interchange income from the merchant, which will help us continue to offer the Debit Card as part of the share draft account at no additional cost. But remember it may take several days to be debited from your account so you must write all transactions down in your check register. You can only spend what you have in the checking account.

What do I do if my card is lost or stolen?
If it is during business hours (Mon – Thurs 9-3 or Fri 9-5) call 775-725-3586 as soon as you suspect it is lost or stolen. If it is after business hours or on weekends call 1-800-Visa9 (1-800-847-2991). Please don’t hesitate to call if you think it is lost or stolen. Take the precaution. It only costs $5 to replace a card.
